Labor Thoughts....
Research shows that infections start after laboring women are at the hospital. This can be attributed to the number of vaginal exams that are completed while in the hospital. The exams could potentially increase the amount of bacteria in the mom to be; which can result in a fever and then possibly leading to inductions to try and move the baby. Even with this information, it is suggested that once the water breaks, moms are at risk of infection and should go to the hospital.
Vaginal exams during labor also can dilation to reverse (due to the sphincter factor)
